A Major Energy Producer
Origin Energy has power-generation plants spread across a range of different states, including Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. In addition to wind, solar, pumped water, cogeneration and coal-powered energy plants, they also own more gas-fired power stations than any other company.
Invested In Renewables
Origin Energy proves that they are more than just talk when it comes to renewable energy. They can currently power over 330,000 properties with their wind power sources, while 360,000 of their customers have solar panels installed. They’re also the biggest green-energy provider in the country, offering their customers the choice of Green Power, Green LPG or Green Gas.
Promotors of Gender Equality
In a recent global assessment of 3,500 different companies, Origin Energy ranked in the top 10 for gender equality. Not only do they offer 20 weeks of paid parental leave (with no 1-year waiting period), but they also have policies in place to ensure recruitment shortlists contain an equal number of male and female candidates.
In 2010, Origin Energy established the Origin Foundation, a not-for-profit that supports disadvantaged young Australians. In the last 5 years, this foundation has assisted over 20,000 children around the country with their education. Origin Energy also offers grant programs, plus a donation matching initiative that sees them match all donations made by employees to accredited charities.
Tracking Carbon Commitments
Origin was the first energy company to sign up for 7 commitments as part of the global ‘We Mean Business’ initiative supporting corporate action on climate change. These pledges, which include emissions reduction targets, using 100% renewable energy for office operations and removing profit-motivated deforestation from supply chains, are all listed on the Origin website, along with progress reports on how they are working to meet these commitments.
Making Life Easier for Customers
Origin Energy remains focused on making life easier for customers using a range of initiatives. This includes an emphasis on customer service, no lock-in contracts and an award-winning app that will help you to manage your energy usage easily and effectively.
Offering Payment Plans to reduce Bill Stress
EasiPay is a brilliant initiative from Origin Energy that is designed to help households manage their ongoing power costs. With an EasiPay plan, Origin will estimate your annual power bill (based on both projected costs and past usage details) and then work out the average cost per month, per fortnight or even per week (it’s totally up to you). They’ll then set up a regular direct debit, so you can budget in the same regular amount.
